About Sunburst Web Services

Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Paula Jakobs and I am a web developer with more than 15 years of Internet Industry experience. While getting a degree in Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, I discovered my love of the web. So, I finished my degree and went to work for an Internet non-profit company in Amsterdam, Netherlands (RIPE NCC). While there, I learned much about networking and the Internet and started doing some basic web design.

In 1999 I moved back to Austin, TX and started working as a web developer full-time. I first worked for the now defunct ibooks.com, and then moved on to being the webmaster for Red Rhino Sports. During that time, I added to my web development knowledge by learning programming, first perl and later php. In 2002, I decided to start working freelance under the business name Sunburst Web Services. Since that time, I have worked for many diverse clients, mostly small and medium businesses. Sometimes I work for a client directly, and other times I work as a sub-contractor for another company.

I'm not a graphic designer. I specialize in web programming, mainly using mysql and php. I love the variety my freelance work offers me.
